Washington, D.C.’s Proposed Plan for “Voluntary” Gun Search

I could sum it up in one word …. STUPID!!

But, I’ll go further.

Why would any sane person who has an illegal gun “‘voluntarily” allow the police to “search” their residence.

Why would any sane person who doesn’t have an illegal gun in their home “voluntarily” allow the police to search their residence?

Basically, why would anyone “voluntarily” … allow the police or anyone else … for any reason … to search their home?

It sounds like a brain dead police chief is making a brain dead proposal to what she’s assuming is a brain dead Washington, D.C. population.

It sounds like something the British under King George III would propose … although the “voluntary” would be “strictly optional” under George III … and didn’t we have a revolution about stuff like that?

    Exactly. Thank you.

  2. That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Especially since once they get in there, if they see ANYTHING of suspicion, even though they don’t have a warrant, they can get you for it.

Not that I have anything. But that’s not the point. The point is that it’s a privacy infringement.

Why would anyone voluntarily submit to this?

I have a theory, though. When these people come knocking on your door, I doubt they are going to explain your rights to you, and let you know that you don’t have to submit to their search. Only if you already know this are you protected. If you don’t know your rights, which believe it or not, I’m sure many don’t, then it’s just a way for them to basically search without a warrant.

    Not a good plan.
